SAWUBONA·AII see you. I understand you. I serve you.

Ethics

Our commitments

These are the principles Sawubona AI is held to - in how it is built, how it behaves, and how it treats the people who trust it.

People before technology

Sawubona means "I see you." Everything we build starts from that idea: technology should serve people, never the other way around.

We design for the communities we serve and listen to them as we grow.

Safety first

Every message the AI writes is checked before it reaches you. Content that could cause harm - to you or to others - is stopped, and you are shown a gentle, human message instead.

If you are ever in crisis, the app will point you toward real people who can help. The AI is a companion, not a counsellor, doctor, or pastor.

Privacy by design

Your private moments - feelings, journals, prayers - belong to you. They are never visible to leaders or administrators, and never used to profile or target you.

We collect only what the app needs to work, and we show real numbers or honest empty states - never invented statistics.

Honest about what AI is

The AI does not feel, believe, or pray. It can help you reflect, find a reading, or put thoughts into words - but it never replaces human relationships, faith community, or professional care.

We will always tell you when you are reading something written by the AI.

Culture is honored, not mined

Cultural knowledge shared with Sawubona is treated with respect. It is used to serve the community it comes from, with guidance from cultural advisors, and never sold or repurposed without consent.

Accountability

Every automated decision that affects you is logged and can be reviewed. When we get something wrong, we want to know - please tell us through the About page.
